This XK120 was Manufactured in June 1951, and dispatched to Australian Jaguar Distributors ,Brylaw Motors in Melbourne on 15th July 1951 . Chassis number 660834. First registered in 1952 with the registration number TX 528.
Finished in cream with a biscuit soft top and side screens and with a red leather interior. Also fitted were the optional rear wheel spats and steel disc wheels which were required on the cars with spats.
Still retaining the original chassis number, engine number and body number this remarkable XK was basically unknown until re surfacing in Vermont, Victoria in 1957 with the then owner Mr Robert Innes. By 1973 it had come under the ownership of Mr Ron Wylie of Geelong, and it is briefly described and depicted in the Elmgreen/Mc Grath iconic book the XK in Australia. It was Mr Wylie ... who apparently fitted a new cylinder head in about 1983. The head being un numbered in the valley, suggesting this may have been a new cylinder head at the time. This appears to be the only un recorded identifier on the car. In 1998 the car was offered at Goodman’s Harbour Classic Auction as Lot 309 with a guiding range of $50k to $60k, but neither the price or the mileage was noted. However, the car carried the registration number QYM 603 suggesting a NSW number from around 1994. The car was described as being condition 2 which indicates it was in good to very good condition.
Photos of the car are featured on the XK data site in 2007, which were uploaded in 2020, and appearing cosmetically at least in similar condition as it is today. Competing in an Adelaide Rally in November 2023, and recently had a comprehensive service and tune by Marque Automotive of Melbourne, which also indicated good and even engine compression figures.
This XK is ready for the next step in its journey , and a marvellous opportunity to acquire a locally delivered XK120. Car is being sold unregistered but with rights to the registration plates TX 528.
